Coming with Kunark

The Reincarnation System

Reincarnation is a headline feature on the EverQuest Legends roadmap: take a capped character, reset it to level 1, and earn permanent, stacking stat bonuses for doing it again. It also opens a rare question in an MMO — since you're re-leveling anyway, should you change your Trio combo on the way back up? Here's what's known so far, and how to prepare.

✓ Confirmed on the roadmap ⏳ Details still emerging

Reincarnation has been named as a coming system alongside the Ruins of Kunark expansion, but the developers haven't published the exact numbers yet. This page sticks to what's actually known and flags what isn't — we'll turn it into a full interactive planner the moment the mechanics are confirmed.

The concept

What is Reincarnation?

The core loop is a classic "prestige" or "rebirth" system. Once your character reaches the level cap, Reincarnation lets you reset back to level 1 in exchange for a permanent bonus that carries into your next climb, and stacks each time you do it. The result is a character that ends up stronger than one that simply hit the cap once, rewarding players who re-run the leveling game.

In a normal MMO, hitting max level ends your character's growth. A stacking reincarnation bonus turns the level grind into a repeatable power source, which is why it's one of the most-anticipated systems on the roadmap, and why planning around it matters.

Straight facts

What we know vs. what's unconfirmed

✓ What's confirmed

  • Reincarnation is an announced system on the EQL roadmap.
  • It's associated with the Ruins of Kunark expansion timeframe.
  • The premise is a max-level reset back to level 1 for a lasting reward.
  • The bonus is meant to stack, so repeated reincarnations compound.

? Not confirmed yet

  • The exact bonus per reincarnation (flat stats, %, or a separate track).
  • Any requirements or cost to reincarnate beyond hitting the cap.
  • Whether there's a cap on how many times you can do it.
  • How gear, Alternate Advancement, and your loadout carry over.
  • Whether you can switch your primary class as part of the reset.

We're not going to invent numbers. As the developers confirm the mechanics, this page updates, and the planner goes live.

The interesting decision

Should you change your Trio when you reincarnate?

This is the part unique to Legends. Because you're re-leveling from scratch, a reincarnation is the perfect, low-cost moment to rethink your three-class Trio. Your secondary and tertiary already swap freely, but a full reset is the natural time to reconsider your whole identity, including your primary.

Reasons to keep your combo

Stay the course

If your trio already clears the content you enjoy and you love how it plays, a reincarnation is just a faster, stronger second lap. Re-leveling a known combo is smooth, you know the spikes, the camps, and the gear path. Consistency compounds with the stat bonus.

Reasons to switch it up

Rebuild smarter

Learned that you want more control, a real slow, or a pet to tank? The reset is your clean slate. Re-leveling as a fresh trio costs you nothing extra, and you come out the other side both stronger and better-suited to your goals. Test the new combo in the Forge first.

When the mechanics are confirmed, this section becomes an interactive planner: plug in your current trio and goals, and get a recommendation on whether to keep or re-spec on reset.

Get ready now

How to prepare before it drops

1 · Reach the cap

Get to level 50

Reincarnation rewards capped characters, so the fastest path to benefit is a clean run to 50. Follow the leveling roadmap to get there efficiently.

2 · Save your builds

Bank your trio plans

Use the Build Forge to save your current trio and a couple of "next life" candidates. When reset day comes, you'll already know your options instead of scrambling.

3 · Hold your gear

Keep your kit ready

Park spare gear and resist sets in your Storage tab so a fresh climb is smooth. Whatever carries over, you'll want your loadout organized before you reset.
