The Best EverQuest Legends Class Combos

The best class combos in EverQuest Legends right now, our launch-week meta tier list of the strongest three-class trios for solo, group, and raid play. Every pick shows our build tool's actual score, and you can open any of them in the Forge to tweak it into your own. It's launch week and the meta is young, so treat this as a strong starting point, not gospel. Want the full set? Browse all 560 class combos in the Explorer.

How these are ranked: each combo carries a 0โ€“99 score from the EQLForge Trio tool, which weighs tank, healing, damage, and utility. On top of that raw score we layer what actually wins fights in Legends: a slow, real D4 (top-difficulty) readiness, and a clear job in solo/group/raid content. So the big S/A/B bands here are our launch-week meta call, while the number on each card is the tool's raw score. The tool's own tiers work the same way in spirit, its S-tier is reserved for D4-ready builds too, so browse the Explorer for every trio's tier and a full "how rankings work" breakdown.

Best Trios by Playstyle

Just want a recommendation? These are our picks for the best trio for each way to play. The full S, A, and B ranking is right below.

Best for BeginnersNew players
beginnerforgivingtank
The most forgiving trio in the game. Paladin plate plus Lay on Hands and self-heals make the tank nearly impossible to lose, the Cleric is the strongest healer in Norrath as your safety net, and the Magician's pet off-tanks and adds easy ranged damage. Low stakes and low APM while you learn the ropes.
Best for Solo PlayLow maintenance
solopetslow
Plays like a one-person army. Your pet soaks the hits so little reaches you, the Shaman slow neuters anything dangerous, and lifetaps plus real heals keep you and the pet topped off with no dedicated tank and no babysitting. Two pet classes also let you pick the right pet for the job, the Magician elemental to tank or the Necromancer skeleton for the lifetap synergy. About as self-sufficient and low-stress as a trio gets.
Best for DPSMax damage
DPSburstglass cannon
Pure damage. The Enchanter hastes the Rogue and refills the Wizard's mana while mesmerizing anything scary, so the highest single-target damage in the game and the biggest burst nukes both run at full tilt. Melts priority targets fast; just lean on the crowd control, since there is no real tank.

S-Tier

S
The Group AnchorScore 90
D4-readygrouptank
An unkillable front line: the purest tank in the game, the strongest healer, and Enchanter haste, crowd control, and mana regen gluing it together. The gold standard for group content.
The Undying SoloistScore 89
D4-readysoloslow
Shadow Knight lifetaps and self-heals up front, Shaman slow neuters incoming damage, and Bard songs cover mana, movement, and control. Just about impossible to kill on your own.
Slow-Stacked BruiserScore 87
D4-readygrouppet
Warrior holds the line while Shaman and Beastlord pile on slows, buffs, HP/mana regen, a warder pet, and heals. It out-sustains almost anything and grinds forever.
Slow & StabScore 85
D4-readyendgameDPS
Warrior tanks, Shaman slow cuts the boss's damage in half, and Rogue delivers the highest single-target damage in the game from stealth. A high-skill endgame workhorse.
Raid-Ready at 50Score 83
D4-readyraidcommunity pick
The community darling you can walk into raids with the moment you cap. Paladin plate and self-heals keep you upright, Monk avoidance and fists pull and burn, Enchanter glues it together, no dedicated cleric required. *The tool scores it 83 on raw balance; we still rank it S for launch week because it walks into D4 raids at 50 with no dedicated cleric.
Strong & flexible

A-Tier

A
The Safe StartScore 97
beginnerall-rounder
Our highest raw score and the most forgiving build in the game: plate mitigation, reliable healing, and ranged burst. The best all-rounder for a first character, only off the endgame S-tier because it lacks a slow.
AoE ControlScore 90
grouppetcc
A group multiplier: Enchanter locks the room and hastes the party, Magician's pet off-tanks and nukes, Cleric keeps everyone up. Squishy with no plate tank, so pull carefully or park behind a Warrior.
Pet ArtilleryScore 84
levelinggrouppet
The Mage pet off-tanks while two nukers melt everything and the Cleric keeps it safe. One of the best speed-leveling engines in the game and a monster in AoE groups.
Nuke & LockScore 77
groupccburst
Enchanter mez locks down the extra mobs, Wizard deletes priority targets with the biggest burst in the game, and Cleric sustains it. Devastating AoE control for a coordinated group.
Specialist picks

B-Tier

B
Control SoloistScore 75
soloslowcc
Pet, DoTs, a slow, and double crowd control make this a connoisseur's true-solo build, near-impossible to kill. It scores lower because it has no plate tank and kills things slowly, but it's a survival machine.

Think we're wrong?

The whole point of the Forge is that there's no single best build. Every one of the 560 trios has its own guide and score, so grab one of these, tweak it, or find a sleeper we missed.

Tiers reflect launch-week play and this site's Trio scoring; EverQuest Legends is new and still being tuned, so the meta will shift. Scores are a tool, not a verdict, play what you enjoy.
