Halas is the rugged barbarian city of the Northmen, built on a ringed island reached across a frozen lake in the far north of Everfrost Peaks. It is the starting city for barbarian warriors, shamans and rogues, offering a bank, guild trainers and merchants within its circular tent and hut settlement. The city bank is run by the Rogues of the White Rose, giving Halas a rougher edge than most good aligned towns.
Getting thereHalas connects only to Everfrost Peaks, reached by crossing the lake to the mainland. From Everfrost Peaks the overland journey passes through the gnoll caverns of Blackburrow to reach Qeynos and the rest of southern Antonica.
EnemiesThe city interior is safe, but the surrounding Everfrost Peaks are stalked by polar bears, ice goblins, snow orcs, wooly mammoths, gnolls and giants. The narrow icy valleys leave little room to flee, so wandering too far from the newbie area near the city can be deadly for low levels.

Dangers
Faction matters here: the Rogues of the White Rose control the bank and guards may be unfriendly to non barbarian visitors until favor is earned. The bitter cold and the tight, enemy filled valleys of Everfrost Peaks mean a fleeing low level often has nowhere to run.
Tips
Barbarians enjoy strong regeneration, making Halas hunting efficient, and the polar bear skin turn ins to Cindl give solid early rewards. Stay near the city and the frozen lake shore at low levels, and be cautious of the rogue faction when banking as a visiting race.
