The Southern Plains of Karana are a sprawling grassland stretching from the Qeynos-guarded northern bridge down to the mountains, home to the aviak village, the Sabretooth gnoll camps, and the entrance to the Splitpaw Lair dungeon. It offers a wide level spread and is famous as the roaming ground of Quillmane, one of EverQuest's most competitive rare spawns.
Getting thereThe north end crosses a Qeynos-guarded bridge into North Karana, a southern pass leads toward Lake Rathetear and the Rathe Mountains, and stone spires near the zone center mark the entrance down into the Splitpaw Lair gnoll dungeon.
EnemiesWolves, lions, and elephants roam the open plains alongside Splitpaw and Tesch Mas Sabretooth gnolls, aviaks near their village, centaurs, treants, shadowed men, skeletons and zombies, plus dangerous cyclops and undead cyclops in the higher-level areas.

Tips
Camping Quillmane requires patience and grabbing aggro first since most spawns are placeholders, the aviaks are generally non-aggressive unless you are a troll or ogre, and grouping is often needed at the busy gnoll and centaur camps.
