Lord Mistmoore

An EverQuest Legends guide to the vampire lord who rules Castle Mistmoore: the top-end fight in a mid-level zone, how to reach him, why long fights favor him, and what the recent revamp changed. Written for trio play.

Who he is

Lord Mistmoore, Mayong Mistmoore, is the vampire lord and namesake of Castle Mistmoore. At roughly level 53 he sits well above the rest of the zone, which runs level 20 to 45, so he is the deliberate step-up fight you come back for once your trio is strong, not something you clear on your first pass through the castle.

The fight: do not let it go long

A vampire lord punishes a slow kill

Mistmoore sustains himself with life taps and hits hard in melee, so the longer the fight drags the more he heals through your damage. The answer is burst: go in with your cooldowns up, keep your healer ahead of his output, and end it fast rather than trading blows. A trio built to grind him down slowly is exactly the trio that loses to him.

Clear a safe approach through the interior first and mind the roaming patrols on the way in, so you reach him without a train forming behind you. Then engage on cleared ground with everything available.

Getting there, and the day-night trick

Castle Mistmoore sits off Lesser Faydark on Faydwer, reached through the druid ring at the western edge of Lesser Faydark's southern border. It is a gothic dungeon of dark elves, vampires, and gargoyles, so the trip in is a fight in itself.

The revamp changed how this zone works

As of the August 18, 2026 update, Castle Mistmoore plays differently from classic EverQuest. Its named are now guaranteed spawns rather than rare placeholders, each drops a guaranteed common or rare item with stat bonuses, they are flagged as rare creatures, and crucially they aggress less during the day. That daytime lull makes clearing a path to Mistmoore noticeably safer, so time your run for daylight when you can.

Trio checklist

  • Burst over attritionSave your damage cooldowns for the boss. His life taps mean a fast kill is a safe kill and a slow one is a wipe.
  • Heal ahead of the damageHe hits hard in melee on top of the taps, so your healer should be topping the tank before the spike, not chasing it.
  • Clear the patrols firstPull him with the room clear. The roaming castle patrols adding mid-fight is the usual cause of a failed attempt.
  • Come back gearedHe is roughly level 53 in a zone that caps at 45, so treat him as a target for a strong, well-equipped trio rather than a first clear.
Exact repop timing for Lord Mistmoore in Legends is still being confirmed from firsthand play. Treat him as a top-end boss on a normal repop. This guide will be tightened as spawn mechanics are verified in game.
