Lord Nagafen is the red dragon lairing beneath Lavastorm, one of Norrath's iconic dragons. In classic EQ he was a guild raid; in Legends, the trio system means a capable solo player can bring him down. The fight is still all about his two big attacks, an area fire blast and an area fear, so it lives or dies on your resists and keeping your head.
In EQL, this is soloable: In EQL you don't need a raid for Nagafen. A geared, well-rounded trio can take him solo; a small group just makes it faster. Push the zone difficulty up when you want a bigger fight (and better loot) instead of stacking more players.
How to reach it
Enter Nagafen's Lair from Lavastorm and work down to his chamber. There's no level lock or key-gating in the Legends design the way classic had, so come as you are and set the difficulty to match the challenge (and loot) you want.

Lava Breath
A point-blank area fire blast that also strips buffs. High Fire Resist turns it from lethal to survivable, this is the stat that matters most against him.

Dragon Roar
An area fear. Solo, a bad fear sends you running into a wall of trouble, so Magic Resist (and a way to cure or break fear) keeps the fight under control.

Enrage
He hits harder as his health drops, so save your defensive cooldowns for the back half of the fight.
Resists
Fire and Magic resist are everything against Nagafen. Cap Fire Resist for the breath and stack Magic Resist to shrug off the fear before you engage.

Cap your resists first
Get your Fire Resist as high as you can and your Magic Resist up too. On a solo trio this is the single biggest difference between a clean kill and a face-plant.

Pick a difficulty that fits your gear
Legends scales the fight with D0-D4, so start lower to learn the pattern, then crank it up for tougher Nagafen and better drops.

Play around the breath and the fear
Heal or shield through the Lava Breath, and have an answer to the fear ready (a cure, a resist buff, or just enough Magic Resist to dodge it).

Respect the enrage
When he enrages near death, pop your saved defensives or blow him up through it with a burn.

Good to know
Nagafen and Lady Vox are the same style of fight in opposite elements, fire versus cold. Learn one and the other clicks.
EverQuest Legends is soloable by design (the trio system), so these classic raid targets don't need a full raid, and the current level cap is 50. Mechanics and loot use the classic encounter as a backbone, which EQL tunes, so treat numbers as reference and confirm in-game.
