Robe of the Kedge and Phinigel Autropos

An EverQuest Legends guide to the sunken keep's boss: what Phinigel Autropos drops, why the whole zone is an underwater fight, and how a trio reaches and beats him. Written for trio play.

The prize: Robe of the Kedge

The Robe of the Kedge is the headline drop, a caster chest robe that carries a huge mana pool and a Reagent Conservation focus, so your summoned pets and reagent-hungry spells cost far less to keep casting. It is No Drop, so the only way to own one is to beat the boss yourself.

Phinigel is a three-class payday, because he also drops two other chase pieces:

  • Trident of Seven SeasA No Drop rogue piercer with +10 backstab and a Frost Strike proc from level 45, one of the best backstab weapons at this tier.
  • Blue Crystal StaffA wizard staff with intelligence, mana, and heavy fire and cold saves, a strong caster mainhand that doubles as resist gear.

Where he lives: the sunken Kedge Keep

Phinigel Autropos is the guardian and primary boss of Kedge Keep, a level 35 to 50 ruin that is fully submerged. You reach it by swimming down through the southern lake in Dagnor's Cauldron on Faydwer. The underwater setting is not flavor, it shapes every single pull.

Water breathing is not optional

The entire zone is underwater, so bring reliable water breathing for the whole trio before you go: an enchanter or shaman spell, an item clicky, or an Enduring Breath source you can keep up. Running out of air mid-pull kills people faster than any mob here. This is the one preparation you cannot skip.

The real danger: adds and exploding sailfins

Phinigel is ringed by powerful guardians, and the fight is lost or won on how you handle them, not on the boss himself. Two specific threats:

  • His guardian addsSplit them carefully with crowd control before you engage Phinigel. A geared trio wins the boss cleanly, but not while three of his guardians are also swinging.
  • Exploding sailfinsThe sailfins in the zone blast roughly 400 area damage when they die. Do not kill them stacked on top of your group, and keep your healer clear of the blast. This surprises a lot of first-time trios.

Clear a safe pocket, mez or peel the guardians, then bring Phinigel down with your cooldowns up. Once the adds are handled he is a straightforward fight for a strong trio.

Exact repop timing for Phinigel in Legends is still being confirmed from firsthand play. Treat him as a zone boss on a normal repop, prep water breathing, and clear the adds before engaging. This guide will be tightened as spawn mechanics are verified in game.

Frequently asked

  • Do I really need water breathing?Yes. Kedge Keep is fully submerged and drowning is the top cause of death here. Bring a spell, a clicky, or an item source and keep it up for the whole trio.
  • Are the drops tradeable? The Robe of the Kedge and Trident of Seven Seas are No Drop, so the class that wants them has to be in the group for the kill. The Blue Crystal Staff is a wizard mainhand.
  • What are the exploding sailfins?Fish in the zone that deal about 400 area damage when killed. Kill them away from your group and keep the healer out of the blast radius.
  • Do I need a raid? No. A geared trio with water breathing and a way to split the guardians can take Phinigel. He is a boss, not a raid target.
Planning the trio you will farm Kedge with?

Build your three classes in the Forge with water breathing and crowd control in the kit, save it, and compare it against what other players run in the build database.
