An EverQuest Legends farming guide to the famed red breastplate: what its regen aura does, where it drops off the Avatar of Fear in Cazic-Thule, and how a trio splits the temple and takes the boss. Written for trio play.
The Rubicite Breastplate is a red plate chest with a passive Rubicite Aura that regenerates your health while worn. That regen is the reason it is chased: for any class with no self-healing, a chest slot that quietly ticks your health back up cuts downtime between pulls and takes pressure off your healer. Add 19 AC on the chest and it is a genuine mid-level upgrade that bridges dungeon loot and early raid gear.
The wide class list is part of the appeal. Warriors, paladins, rangers, shadow knights, clerics, bards, rogues, and shamans can all wear it, so on almost any trio at least one of your three wants this chest, and the regen matters most on the ones that cannot heal themselves.
The Rubicite drops from the Avatar of Fear, the roughly level 38 Shadow Knight zone boss of Cazic-Thule, the maze-like lizardman temple to the god of fear. He dwells in the Avatar Pyramid at the heart of the temple and spawns at loc (1085, 590). He also drops the Bladed Thulian Claws, the zone's signature dual-wield weapon, so the kill can pay two slots at once.
Cazic-Thule is reached from The Feerrott, and it is a level 20 to 40 zone, so the Avatar is a fight you grow into on the way to 40 rather than a low-level gimme.
First, the Avatar's harm touch can spike a tank that is not topped off and prepared for it, so go in with your tank at full health and your healer ready. Second, the temple is full of heavy social pulls: the maze around the Avatar can train several Tae Ew lizardmen onto you at once, and a Cazic Cenobite guards the approach to his chamber.
The answer to both is control. Split the pulls with crowd control so you are never fighting the Avatar and a pack at the same time, clear the chamber, then take him on open ground with the tank prepped for the harm touch.
Build your three classes in the Forge with a crowd-control tool for the temple pulls, save it, and compare it against what other players run in the build database.
