Flowing Black Silk Sash

An EverQuest Legends farming guide to the FBSS, the premier haste belt every melee trio chases: what the haste does for you, where it drops in Lower Guk, and how to hold one of the most contested camps in the game. Written for trio play.

What the FBSS is, and why it is the belt to own

The Flowing Black Silk Sash, the FBSS, is a waist item any class can wear that grants +21% attack haste. It weighs almost nothing and asks nothing in return. That single stat is why it has been the most chased tradeable belt in Norrath since the earliest days.

Haste raises how fast you swing, and on a melee-leaning trio that touches everything at once: more raw damage, more weapon procs landing per minute, and more aggro for whichever class is holding the mob. Until you reach a higher tier of worn haste later, the FBSS is the belt that carries you, and because it is tradeable, it holds its value even after you outgrow it. This is the first big shared upgrade most trios chase.

Where it drops: a Frenzied Ghoul

The FBSS drops from a Frenzied Ghoul, a rare named that spawns on the Dead Side of Lower Guk at loc (1071, -1055). It hits hard for its level, and its camp is one of the most contested spots in the entire game precisely because of this belt. The same named also drops the Moonstone Ring, a caster focus item, so the camp pays two classes of your trio at once.

The placeholder in the same room

A Bloodthirsty Ghoul shares the Frenzied Ghoul's spawn point at roughly (1072, -1055), so when you clear the room and a plain warrior ghoul is up instead of the named, that is almost certainly your placeholder. Kill it and hold the room for the repop rather than wandering off.

No faction cost

The Frenzied Ghoul and the whole Dead Side are undead, so farming the camp costs you no froglok faction. You can grind the entire approach clean, which is the opposite of the Live Side under the Froglok King.

Running the camp as a trio

This is a hold-the-room camp against a hard-hitting named, so the two things that matter are a slow and a clean pull. Lock the room down, keep the Frenzied Ghoul slowed, and you turn a dangerous mob into a farmable one.

  • Slow is close to mandatoryA Shaman or Enchanter slow cuts the Frenzied Ghoul's damage hard. It hits well above its level, so an unslowed pull onto a squishy trio can go bad fast. Land the slow first, then commit.
  • Lean undeadThe whole Dead Side is undead, so the Slay Undead AA and any undead nukes run the entire camp. Buy that line before you settle in here.
  • Expect companyBecause the belt is so prized, this is a contested spot. Secure the room, and if it is taken, work another Dead Side named and check back rather than sitting idle.
Exact repop timing in Legends is still being pinned down from firsthand play. Treat the Frenzied Ghoul as a rare named on a normal dungeon repop for now, camp the room, and clear the Bloodthirsty Ghoul placeholder while you wait. This guide will be tightened as spawn mechanics are confirmed in game.

While you are here: the rest of the Dead Side

The Frenzied Ghoul camp sits in the most-camped loot side in Antonica, all undead, all faction-free, so it pairs naturally with the other headline drops:

Frequently asked

  • Is the FBSS worth it for a caster? The haste helps your melee and your pet's swings, but a pure caster gains little from attack haste directly. The Frenzied Ghoul's other drop, the Moonstone Ring, is the caster prize at this camp.
  • Does farming it hurt froglok faction? No. The Frenzied Ghoul and the whole Dead Side are undead, so there is no faction hit.
  • What is the placeholder?A Bloodthirsty Ghoul shares the same spawn point, so it is the mob to clear while you wait for the named to repop.
  • Do I need a group? No. A geared trio with a slow and steady healing farms it solo. The slow is the part you do not skip.
Planning the trio you will farm this with?

Build your three classes in the Forge around a slow and an undead-friendly kit, save it, and compare it against what other players run in the build database.
