🗺 Zone map

The in-game map for this zone. North is up.

The endgame air raid: a chain of floating islands stacked above Norrath, home to fairies, spiroc bird-men, and the djinn. You ascend one island at a time, and each island's guardian drops the key to the next portal (the Key Master on the first island sells a few). EverQuest Legends removed the old island-boss death-touches, which makes the climb learnable as a trio: aggressive islands, split-spawning mobs, and knockback off the edges are the real challenges, not the size of your group. Most of the best gear comes from class quests rather than boss drops, and many of those rewards stay best-in-slot for a long time.

Getting thereReached by clicking the orb in the East Freeport bay (around 425, -1200), or with a Wizard's Alter Plane: Sky spell (Cloudy Stone of Veeshan). There is no walking exit: you leave by Gate, ports, or death. Falling off an island drops you all the way back to East Freeport.
EnemiesFairies, imps, harpies, winged pegasi, aggressive spiroc bird-men, split-spawning bees, drakes, and cloud elementals, most level 50 and up. Many cast Gravity Flux or knockback, and the islands do not see through invisibility, so invis helps you cross the aggressive ones.

Camps & progression

  1. Islands 1 and 1.5 (Fairy and Noble)46-50

You start on the Fairy Island by the Key Master, a non-aggressive entry, with the Thunder Spirit Princess. Noble Island holds Noble Dojorn, whose death later spawns the Overseer of Air on the Pegasus island.

  2. Islands 2 to 4 (Azarack, Harpy, Pegasus)48-52

The Protector of Sky, then Gorgalosk (who casts a 12 to 15 second Stone Breath stun), then the Keeper of Souls on the largest island, where mobs split into replacements when killed.

  3. Islands 5 to 7 (Spiroc, Bee, Drake)50-54

The Spiroc Lord (heavy knockback), Bazzt Zzzt the Queen Bee (a complex split chain with poison DoT procs), and the Sister of the Spire on the drakes' island (Gravity Flux). Several of these are farmable for gear.

  4. Island 8 (Veeshan)55+

The final island, opened when the Overseer of Air dies. The Eye of Veeshan waits here at roughly 32,000 HP, the toughest fight in the zone, a real test for a strong trio.

Notable NPCs

  • The Key Master key NPC Stands on Island 1 and sells keys for a few of the islands, alongside the keys the island bosses drop. Also marks the succor point back to the entry island.
  • Thunder Spirit Princess boss, Island 1 The first island's guardian; killing her starts the climb.
  • Noble Dojorn boss, Island 1.5 The Noble Island guardian. His death spawns the Overseer of Air on the Pegasus island, part of the chain to the final island.
  • Protector of Sky boss, Island 2 The Azarack Island guardian, among social mobs.
  • Gorgalosk boss, Island 3 Casts Stone Breath, a 12 to 15 second stun, and is a dangerous early wall.
  • Keeper of Souls boss, Island 4 Guardian of the largest island, where mobs split into replacements on death, so expect to tank several at once.
  • The Spiroc Lord boss, Island 5 A hard-hitting guardian whose knockback can launch you off the island.
  • Bazzt Zzzt (Queen Bee) boss, Island 6 A complex split chain with poison DoT procs. Bee Island is the fiddliest fight in the zone.
  • Sister of the Spire boss, Island 7 Farmable for gear, but throws Gravity Flux that can fling you off the edge.
  • Overseer of Air gate boss Spawns on the Pegasus island when Noble Dojorn dies; killing it opens the portal to the final island.
  • Eye of Veeshan final boss, Island 8 The plane's final encounter, roughly 32,000 HP at base difficulty and a few levels above the 50 cap.

Quest rewards & other drops

  • Class Sky armor (quest) Armor · all classes Each class has several quest lines here, and the best Sky gear comes from these rather than boss drops. Every line needs Wind Runes, which drop from all Sky mobs.
  • 21% haste belt Belt · melee A top-tier melee haste belt, a big boost for any melee trio.
  • 16% haste belt Belt · hybrids The hybrid-classes haste belt.
  • Efreeti War Spear Piercer · War / Brd / Rog / Shm EQL15 dmg / 40 dly · Piercing · +15 backstab · Magic Lore · WAR BRD ROG SHM One of the best backstab weapons in the game, off the efreeti up here.
  • Spiroc Wingblade Warrior epic component Part of the Warrior epic quest chain.
  • Wind Runes Quest component · all Farmable from every mob and required for all the class quests, so hold onto them from the first island.

Dangers

Falling off an island sends you back to East Freeport, so the edges are lethal, and Gravity Flux and knockback spells can launch you off. Island 4's mobs split into replacements when killed, and Bee Island's split chain can snowball. Note that EverQuest Legends removed the island bosses' classic death-touches, so unlike old EQ you can tank and heal through these fights.

Tips

Take it one island at a time with a strong trio; the climb is the challenge, not the head count. Clear trash on flat ground away from the edges, bring invisibility for the aggressive islands (mobs do not see through it), and bank Wind Runes for the class quests. Clear each island fully and take its key before moving up.
